Ewa by Gentry and community members join IPR Hawaii in blessing a newly constructed playground
There’s nothing like seeing the the faces of children as they rush towards a new playground for the first time. IPR Hawaii recently had the honor of participating in the blessing and unveiling for one of our newly constructed playgrounds at the Thomas H. Gentry Community Park in Ewa Beach on Thursday, June 16th.
The official grand opening of the playground was preceded by a Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Kordell Kekoa who included the community families to participate and share in the blessing. Children gave their own blessings for the safety of all and pledged to help do their part to care for their families and the new playground. The ceremony was a touching way to acknowledge and celebrate the new playground while creating an important opportunity to gather community members together to share in the pride and excitement in their neighborhood.
Dela LaFleur, Assistant General Manager of the Ewa by Gentry Community Association had this to say about the playground blessing, “Working with IPR Hawaii has always been a great experience for us. This project was especially meaningful because our staff, several representatives from IPR and many of the residents all gathered together to participate in a blessing for the new playground. IPR Hawaii organized a beautiful ceremony that people are still talking about weeks later.”
